Greek Gods and Goddesses
Today in class we got our test back and started our second part of Greece. We talked about the Greek Gods and Goddesses. The Gods and Goddesses actually interacted with the humans. Some of the Gods and Goddesses are Poseidon - the God of the sea and brother of Zeus. Aphrodite - Goddess of love, beauty, desire, and sexuality. Dionysus - the God of wine and the son of Zeus and Semele. Zeus - God of heaven, earth, the sky, weather, thunder, lightning, law, order, and justice. He is also the father of Athena and he had a temper. Athena - the Goddess of wisdom, skill, warfare, peace, intelligence, battle strategy, and handicrafts. She was born from Zeus' (her father) head and she is the patron of heroes. Apollo - God of music, arts, knowledge, and healing. He is the son of Zeus, his twin sister is Artemis, and he is associated with the sun (his sister is associated with the moon). Demeter - Goddess of grain, harvest, and agriculture. She was Zeus' sister.
