I have lost count of the number of cyber days, but today we were assigned to write a thoughtful blog about integrity, new responsibilities, how this affects others, and how we handle this situation. Like what was said in the assignment, this is a new experience for all of us. For some it might be hard to adapt to the situation, for others it might be easier. We are all handling this differently. I think we need to consider everyone involved. From my experiences so far, in the two weeks of cyber school, I can say that I do get frustrated because of the workload that I get somedays. I admit that I find myself trying to find shortcuts to finish earlier sometimes, but most times I actually put a lot of effort in my work. I actually get homework that I have to submit every day, except d and h days, for dance. It is different things like filming we do certain workouts or following along in an online class. Today is cyber day 9. We were assigned to research the Plague of Athens during the Peloponnesian War and compare it to the COVID-19 pandemic happening right now. From what I found; the Plague of Athens started in 430 B.C.  and lasted until 426 B.C. The Peloponnesian War lasted from 431 B.C. to 404B.C., so Athens was already in war when the plague broke out. When the plague started Athens under siege from Sparta. The plague weakened Athena’s abilities to fight the war, but they stayed strong. They did end up losing though.  Some of the symptoms of the plague were high fever, rash, and diarrhea. This is similar to the coronavirus because one symptom is a high fever. Another similarity is that it spread quickly, and badly effected Athens. The corona virus is spreading very quickly and it has affected everyone so we have had to make extreme changes in our lives. Another similarity is how all of Athens was affected by the plague, and the corona virus has affected the entire world....

Today is cyber day 8 and we were assigned to write three autobiographies about  Philip II, Alexander the Great, and Darius III. We were also told to write about the connection between the three.  Philip II was the King of Spain. He was born May 21, 1527 and died of cancer at age 71 on September 13, 1598. He was the son of Charles V. the duke of Milan. He married many times and had a lot of children. He ruled from ‎ January 16, 1556–September 13, 1598.  Alexander the great was  king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. He was born  July 356 BC in Pella, Greece. He died at 32 years old in  June 323 BC in Babylon. He took the throne after his father at age 20. He was known as one of the best rulers in history.  Darius III  was the last king of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia. He was born 381. B.C. and died July 330 in Bactria. I think today is cyber day 7, maybe, but today we were assigned to do research on the relationship between Alexander and Bucephalus. What I have found from me research was that Bucephalus was a Thessalian horse. In 344 B.C., when Alexander was twelve or thirteen, he won this horse by making a wager with his father. His horse was given to him by a horse dealer for a lot of money. It was worth it though because it was his favorite horse and only Alexander could ride him. Alexander rode him into every battle with the Greek city states, Thebes, and India. Alexander loved his horse a lot. Legend has it that Bucephalus was untamable, but he was tamed by Alexander and became his best friend. Eventually his horse died in 326 B.C., and Alexander was devastated. He decided to name a city after his horse and called it Bucephala.  

Today we were assigned to talk about our week so far on cyber school as a student. So far, I haven't had any problems. I have been able to turn in my work, get my assignments, submit them on time, and keep up with my work. I like to start doing my work earlier rather than later because than I am not as motivated, and it takes me longer. In the morning I write down all I have to do for each class first and then I pick what I want to do. I don't really follow the schedule. I am very organized though, which I think makes it easier to focus and get my work done. I like turning in assignments using the drobox. I think that is a great way of submitting things instead of emailing. I really like when I don't get a big workload for the day and I can get my work done and still have a lot of my day left to relax. I haven't even gotten that bored yet over this corona break because I have kept myself busy. 

Today in cyber day 4. We were assigned to write a paragraph explaining why we think Socrates would start questioning traditional beliefs at this point in history. To help me understand this topic and write my paragraph I watch from 24:30 - 27:30 in the crucible of civilization: Empire in mind video as we were told might help us.  When the Athenian navy won a fight against the Spartans, they were not welcomed home. The Athens journey home was rough and caused them to come home immediately without picking up the soldier who fell overboard during the fight. The generals were thrown in jail because they did not go back and rescue the fallen soldiers. The assembly was convinced that this was a bad crime and all the generals needed to be executed. The fate of these generals only hope was Socrates. Socrates thought for himself and wasn't scared to speak against the rule. Today is the third day of cyber school. So far, I have found it not that hard to get my assignments and turn them in. Today we were assigned to watch   t he third episode called “Crucible of Civilization: Empire of the Mind.” We  were  also told to watch from 17:14 - 24:46 and write a paragraph.  Athens was getting  destroyed, but they could do nothing about it and just watch. Pericles assured Athens that his plan would work. Athens relied on shipments from overseas to survive. One year into the war, the shipments brought with them a plague. It devastated Athens. The plague spread very fast since most were crammed together. Violent heat, redness and inflammation of the eyes, and uncontrollable  diarrhea. They suffered a lot, many people became terrified, and death was all over Athens. The plague almost destroyed Athens.
