Today we were assigned to take notes on slides 43-52 which are the last slides in the powerpoint.

- he was given the title Augustus (exalted one) and imperator (military commander)
- he ruled as emperor for 40 years from 27 BC to 14 AD
- He began Paz Romana - peace that lasted 207 years from 27 BC to 180 AD
- Expanded the Roman empire to Africa
- He set up a civil way to run the government
- he died of natural causes
- After his death, power was passed down to emperors

Tiberius - ruled from 14 AD to 37 AD
- good general
- hesitant emperor
- his son died and he left
- died at 77
Caligula - ruled from 37 AD - 41 AD, only 4 years
- won power after Tiberius death
- a tyrant
- he was murdered by Senators because he tried to re-establish the Republic
Claudius - ruled from 41 AD - 54 AD
- many health problems
- became emperor because he was the last adult male in the family
- he was a good emperor
- murdered by poison
Nero - ruled from 54 AD - 68 AD
- liked the arts
- wanted to rebuild Rome to be more majestic
- spent a lot of money and even raided temples for money
- historians do not like him
