Today we were assigned to take notes on slides 43-52 which are the last slides in the powerpoint.

After Julius Ceaser's murder, his adopted son Octavian takes over at the age of 18

He creates his own triumvirate which is the second triumvirate

- Mark Antony - experienced general
- Lepidus - a powerful politician

Octavian, Mark Antony, and Lepidus
- Octavian forces Lepidus to retire
- rivaled with Mark
- Mark teams up with Cleopatra of Egypt
- Octavian defeats them at the battle of Actium

Octavian
- he was given the title Augustus (exalted one) and imperator (military commander)
- he ruled as emperor for 40 years from 27 BC to 14 AD
- He began Paz Romana - peace that lasted 207 years from 27 BC to 180 AD
- Expanded the Roman empire to Africa
- He set up a civil way to run the government
- he died of natural causes
- After his death, power was passed down to emperors

Emperors
Tiberius - ruled from 14 AD to 37 AD
- good general
- hesitant emperor
- his son died and he left
- died at 77

Caligula - ruled from 37 AD - 41 AD, only 4 years
- won power after Tiberius death
- a tyrant
- he was murdered by Senators because he tried to re-establish the Republic

Claudius - ruled from 41 AD - 54 AD
- many health problems
- became emperor because he was the last adult male in the family
- he was a good emperor
- murdered by poison

Nero - ruled from 54 AD - 68 AD
- liked the arts
- wanted to rebuild Rome to be more majestic
- spent a lot of money and even raided temples for money
- historians do not like him

Temple of Apollo and Temple of Artemis

Today is the last day before Spring Break! Today we were assigned to find two images of Greek architecture and explain them. The first image I found was the Temple of Apollo: The temple of Apollo was built in the 7th c. B.C. in Delphi, Greece. It was a very big temple, but as you can see in the picture  is  was  destroyed many times over the years.  It was built by Trophonios and Agamedes, two legendary architects. The temple was built and named after the god of  archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, the Sun and light, poetry, and more. It is known as the  religious  sanctuary sacred to honor Apollo.  The next greek architecture I found was the Temple of Artemis:   Both of these pictures are of the Temple of Artemis, but the first one is what people beige it looked like from ancient days, and the second picture is what is left of it now. The temple was built in the 6th century B.C. and is located in the western coast of the Asia Minor, now a Turkey.

Thought about cyber school

I have lost count of the number of cyber days, but today we were assigned to write a thoughtful blog about integrity, new responsibilities, how this affects others, and how we handle this situation. Like what was said in the assignment, this is a new experience for all of us. For some it might be hard to adapt to the situation, for others it might be easier. We are all handling this differently. I think we need to consider everyone involved. From my experiences so far, in the two weeks of cyber school, I can say that I do get frustrated because of the workload that I get somedays. I admit that I find myself trying to find shortcuts to finish earlier sometimes, but most times I actually put a lot of effort in my work. I actually get homework that I have to submit every day, except d and h days, for dance. It is different things like filming we do certain workouts or following along in an online class. Corona Virus talk

Today in class we talked about the corona virus. We talked about cyber days, the length of time we will get out, the right way to be sanitary, how to stay healthy, and what the virus is/the symptoms. While talking in class we did not know if/when we were going to get out of school and start cyber days. As of tonight, we were told that we are starting cyber days on March 16 and continuing them until March 27, that is a total of 2 weeks. At first when I heard this, I didn't think much of it because we talked about possibly getting out for a month or 2 in class. I was excited until I realized that we might even get longer if the virus spreads faster. I hope we get back before spring break so we can enjoy it. In class we also discussed how to properly wash our hands so we can stay healthy to prevent rising numbers of infected people. I am anxious to hear what our cyber days will be like. I wonder if we will have to start classes at 8 or just given assignments to finish by the end of t
